The court of appeal has dismissed the case that was filed by Jimmy Akena against the ruling of Justice Yassin Nyanzi.
In 2015, High Court judge Yasin Nyanzi declared Akena’s election a nullity and ordered for a fresh exercise but Akena instead rushed to the Court of Appeal.
However, this morning a panel of three justices of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Irene Mulyagonja upheld the lower court decision.
Their unanimous decision was read by deputy registrar Mary Babirye.
This leaves UPC with no option but electing a new party president.
