Civil Aviation Authority Buys 1.4Bn Fire Rescue Boat

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has spent 1.4billion shillings to purchase a new rescue and fire fighting boat to beef up the safety measures at the Entebbe International Airport.
UCAA Director Airports and Aviation Security, Eng. Sooma Ayub launched the Fire- fighting marine boat at the Marine South Pier in Entebbe on Wednesday. The boat has capacity to rescue 50 passengers in case of an accident on Lake Victoria. It has a 500 hse power with a 50 note speed making it one of the fastest boats on Lake Victoria.
The new boat with other rescue boats previously acquired by the organisation can rescue a total of 450 passengers in the unfortunate event of a catastrophe. The boat also has unique capacity to stop a fire.
