The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, who is also the Woman MP -Kamuli has embarked on improving agricultural production in Busoga region.
In a meeting with National Animal Genetic Resources Centre – (NAGRIC) yesterday, the Speaker highlighted the need to speed up delivery of inputs to farmers in Busoga.
Kadaga said the original plan is to deliver over 100,000 chicks to Kamuli farmers and then roll out to other districts.
Dr Johnson Nkuuhe, the NAGRIC board chairman, said 110,000 chicks would soon be delivered to the prepared farmers. The project is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
This project will further lead to the establishment of fish ponds, piggeries, farms of freshian cows for milk and other livestock.
Kadaga further tasked the Kamuli District Production Officer, Dr Richard Musenero, to liaise with other leaders and farmers from the rest of the districts to get them prepared to receive the inputs.
