Sudan Gov’t, Rebel Groups Sign Peace Deal, Uganda Promises More Support

Uganda on Saturday during the Sudan peace signing deal promised more support in an effort to realizing total peace in the country that has been marred by unending conflict.
Uganda’s premier , Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who represented President Yoweri Museveni promised ‘continued ideological and humanitarian support’ in realizing total peace in the country.
The ceremony that was attended my many Great Lakes leaders saw an agreement between the government and the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), an alliance of rebel groups signed at a ceremony in Juba, the capital of neighboring South Sudan.
The deal if implemented will see Sudan have the long awaited for peace, grant self-rule for the southern provinces of Blue Nile, South Kordofan and West Kordofan. Rebel forces will be integrated into Sudan’s armed forces.
