Tourism was one of the most affected sectors when lock-down was imposed because of #COVID19
With a closure on game-parks, recreational activities, and restricted movement across the country, this industry was weakened to the extent of some business quitting.
Six months later, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has announced the opening of all National Parks and Protected areas.
According to UWA, the parks were opened after consultations with various stakeholders and putting in place standard operating procedures for the containment of the possible spread of #COVID19 in protected areas.
“All tourism activities within the protected areas shall be undertaken in a manner that ensures that all guidelines set by the Ministry of Health” part of UWA’s statement reads.
The Uganda Tourism Board has also ventured in activities to recover the sector.
“The opportunities available are for all. Come visit Kapchorwa and be part of the big future.” Ms Lilly Ajarova said as she visited the Cheptegei’s Athletics training centre.
